What to expect from Education Agents as per National Code – Standard 4

International Education Agents must act ethically, honestly and in the best interest of international students and uphold the reputation of Australia’s international education sector

International Education Agents must:

  • have appropriate knowledge and understanding of the Australian International Education and Training Agent Code of Ethics
  • act honestly and in good faith
  • not charge services fees to overseas students (especially if they are being paid by the education providers)
  • comply with the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 (ESOS Act) and National Code 2018
  • not engage in unethical recruitment processes
  • observe appropriate levels of confidentiality and transparency in dealings with international students while acting honestly and in good faith
  • not enroll the international students with an education provider while still currently enroll with another education, without release paper (especially if prior to 6 months of the principal course)
  • not create Confirmation of Enrolments (CoEs) for non bona fide international students or facilitate the enrollment of international students while knowing that the international students will not comply with the conditions of their visa
